Word of the Day
The valley of Achor is a physical location but it offers us a wonderful spiritual lesson. Achor means trouble and disturbance. Do we trust that all these tribulations are destined to produce joyful confidence and eternal hope? Will we follow Him into the wilderness knowing that our only door of hope is a door of troubles and tribulations?
Most don't welcome this part and would prefer to skip it, but it is the bridal relationship that becomes the weapon. Please don't misunderstand me; yes, there is power in His Name. However, we cannot overlook when Jesus turned to those who did many miracles in His name and said, "I never knew you; depart from Me..." (Matthew 7:23).
This phrase has bridal overtones! The word "knew" is a Jewish idiom referring to intimate relations between a man and a woman. It describes a relationship that knows each other personally and thoroughly. The Lord wants us to know Him, but He also wants to know us. There is a bond that is formed in vulnerability. As we discover the blazing Love that death could not quench, nor the grave keep bound, we gain a trust that turns worry into worship. |
"Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. Have you seen the news lately?
“Moreover, this climate of fear and suspicion is constantly refuelled by the violence in the Middle East”, Kofi Annan said, adding: “We might like to think of the Arab-Israeli conflict as just one regional conflict amongst many. But it is not. No other conflict carries such a powerful symbolic and emotional charge among people far removed from the battlefield.”
Annan sees the United Nations as the only solution to the world’s woes. “Yes, I remain convinced that the only answer to this divided world must be a truly United Nations”, he said.
“All must play their part in a true multilateral world order, with a renewed, dynamic United Nations at its centre”, he said.

Code Red
With countless people suffering in the world today--experiencing natural disasters, wars, and disease--there is a heightened sense of fear. It is shocking to see the tares, or should I say "terrors," growing together with the wheat. We can almost envision the angels beginning to bundle as we watch thousands parading sin, boasting of darkness, and reveling in lawlessness.
Society has obviously moved far beyond the expectation that earthly government can adequately handle the mammoth task to protect us from, or accommodate all of the needs following a catastrophe. People are desperate for someone all-powerful to take over. Truly, only Emmanuel, who has the government upon His shoulders, can bestow Divine protection as the darkness gets darker. The Commander-in-Chief has issued a "code red" to His army, engaging those who love Him, to watch upon the wall and stand in the gap. In response to His beckoning, we lift our voices and shout His own promises back toward Heaven. "Mercy reigns over judgment" (James 2:13). May our Christian "emergency broadcasting systems" sound a clarion call throughout the earth!

"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned" (John 5:28-29).

You need to realize that Christianity is not merely a religion; rather, it is a relationship. |
The Ultimate tragedy is that all those who end in Hell will have chosen it. Instead of accepting that we are all sinners in need of the salvation of Jesus Christ, their pride condemns them to spiritual death. In the end, someone must be the god of our lives.
If we insist on being our own god, we shall succeed, but at the cost of an eternity in Hell. The final proof that pride is the first and greatest sin is displayed in this stubborn sinful pride which insists on having it's own way, at the cost of eternity.
